Anal Sex Anyone?

Anal sex has always been looked upon with a great deal of prejudice and awkwardness because the anus has always been off limits when it comes to penetration. It is almost impossible to escape the fears and myths that are associated with anal play.

Although it is thought that most men would love to have anal sex with their wives or girlfriends, it is thought that their wives or girlfriends would never participate in such an awfully dirty painful disgusting sexual act.

However many women and men do have the desire to explore anal play, either alone through masturbation or with his or her partner. However many are incapable of broaching such a tabooed subject.

The anus and sphincter muscles are surrounded by thousands of extremely rich and very pleasurable nerve endings. Each of which is capable of creating incredibly pleasurable rushes of sensations. It is no wonder why so many people are exploring the extremely erogenous and wonderful pleasures of the anus.

Since the anus does have so many sensitive nerves that are capable of wonderful pleasure, those same nerves can cause a butt load of pain. Literally. Like other parts of our bodies, if handled roughly, the ass will hurt.

Use common sense, if it hurts, it's probably not a good thing to be doing. Maybe you need to slow down or use more lubrication. Take your time and listen to your body or your partner.

Anal sex has always been perceived as dirty, come on, we all know what comes out of there. However anal sex can be a pleasurable and relatively clean experience by using an enema before and a condom during.

A very important thing to remember whether you're by yourself, with your girlfriend and it's her first anal sex experience or you're experiencing gay anal sex. Go slow and listen to your body and or your partner.

Relax - a more relaxed body is much more willing to penetration then one that is tense:

  • Take a few deep breaths and stretch you body.
  • have a glass of wine.
  • A message my more then do the trick.
  • listen to some soothing music on the radio. Music can be very relaxing.

Message the anal area - the anus is very sensitive and erogenous and a message can be very pleasurable and extremely relaxing.

Try finger manipulation - the finger tips are soft and can provide tons of wonderful stimulation to the anus through bun and sphincter message. They are also small enough to penetrate without much if any pain. Be sure your nails are trimmed low and they are smooth and free of any sharp jagged edges so as not to tear the delicate lining of the anus.

Many objects can be used to stimulate the anus besides a finger like the tongue, penis and or anal sex toys.

Ring or flared base - Anal toys should have either a ring or some sort of secure retrieval cord on the end or a flared base.

Lubrication - is very important. Since the anus does not produce any lubrication, it is very important that plenty of lubrication is used.

- Although the anus my often feel wet, the small amount of natural mucus and sweat that's present can cause discomfort, irritation and possibly infection without the aid of lubrication.-

Lubrication is extremely helpful in making anal penetration more comfortable and much more pleasurable so don't forget to lube. There are hundred of lubrications available but water-based lubricants are generally considered to be the safest lubrication and it's very popular since most users find it to be non-irritating and it does not deteriorate latex.

- However some women who are prone to yeast infections find that water-based lubes containing glycerin or sugar can increase there chances of getting yeast infections. -

This can happen with some flavored lubes, which are for external-use only and are not to be used inside the vagina or anus. One of the issues with water-based lubricants is that they can dry quicker than other types of lubricant; however, if you just add more of the lubricant, water, or saliva you can reactivate its slippery properties.

- Oil-based lubrications are no longer recommended as a form of lubrication for safer sex because the oil tends to leave a coating on the vagina or rectum that may cause bacterial or other infections. They can also break down latex condoms, dams, gloves, other latex safer-sex products, diaphragms, and cervical caps, thus reducing their effectiveness. This is important to remember if you're considering applying oil-based lubes to latex condoms on sex toys or toys that are made of latex.-

Advanced Response

Silicone lubrications have become quite popular because they are safe to use with all condoms and any latex products. Silicone-based lubricants also last longer than water-based lubricants.

-However some of the big drawbacks with silicone based lubricants are:
  • they can be harder to wash off
  • some women are irritated by them if the silicone lubrication is left on for too long.
  • they can cause damage to sex toys that are made of silicone.-

Using a condom with a water-based lubricant instead of silicone-based lubricant helps protect the toy from damage. You can choose from many different types of condoms at edenfantasys, and Condomania .

Years ago most sex lubrications were only available through mail-order or adult novelty stores. Now you can find them at your local drug store or any online adult website such as edenfantasys.com and even our very own Adult-SexToys-Guide Store.

As you explore anal sex, experimenting with different types of lubrication can bring different results. Have fun and choose a few different types.

Just to be safe, it is a good idea, especially if your skin is sensitive, to test a small amount of the lubricant on your inner arm or thigh before you use it on your very sensitive genitals.

-Also be sure to thoroughly wash all your adult sex toys with warm water and soap or a sex toy cleaner after use, especially after anal use. And never ever go from the anus to the vagina due to risk of a horrible bacterial infection.-

Astroglide, Anal-Eze and K-Y all are great lubrication to use. If there are no lubrications available vegetable oil will work. However it is very messy and probably will stain any fabric it comes in contact with so you should definitely put a towel underneath you.

Although many people have used Vaseline as a lubricant for the vagina and the anus, it is not wise to do so. Below please find an article on this very important subject from Dr. Myrtle, an author at A-Womens-Touch.

Why not use K-Y Jelly or Vaseline as a lubricant

~ Dear Dr. Myrtle,

I use lubricant sometimes: either KY jelly or Vaseline. Is there something wrong with those? ~

There is definitely something wrong with using any oil-based or petroleum product in the vagina. Vaseline is an oil based petroleum product that is very difficult to naturally clear out of the vaginal space. It can cause something similar to vaginal acne, and can cause or intensify yeast infections if you get them fairly often. In addition, if you are using latex condoms for protection against sexually transmitted diseases or pregnancy prevention, Vaseline causes holes to develop in latex, making them worthless.

The original KY Jelly (the kind that is sold in a tube) is a water-based lubricant that is widely available, and for that reason many people are familiar with it. Unfortunately, it has some major drawbacks as a sexual lubricant. One is that KY Jelly was not developed as a sexual lubricant per se, it was developed as a medical lubricant. Medical lubricants are used when something needs to be introduced into a body, usually once. Sexual intimacy often involves a lot of back-and-forth motion, and under these conditions, medical lubricants dry and become sticky and gloppy. Lubricants which were developed as sexual lubricants will take the friction of sexual activity, be slicker in use, and stay wetter, longer.

KY has developed some "personal" lubricants that are a better choice than the thicker jelly. You can consider them along with the other lubricants available that have been designed for sexual use. Use our "how to choose a lubricant" as a guide to decide which lubricant might work best for you.

Sexual lubricants are a very sexy sex toy. In our store, people who take sample packets home to try them out, invariably come back raving positive things about them. Sexual lubricants come in many different varieties and properties, and most people can find THE lube for themselves. No taste? Really slick? Doesn't cause yeast infections? Flavored? Just ask--all of these (and more) have been developed for the sole purpose of increasing your sexual pleasure.
